Daphna, a Los Angeles native, currently serves as the Music Coordinator for Early Childhood and Young Families at Valley Beth Shalom, a prominent synagogue in the area.
Her love for music and working with children has deep roots, stemming from her time as a Music Together teacher and director in Miami, where she helped parents and children bond through interactive music, rhythm, and movement activities.
A Brief Stint In ABC
Prior to her work in music education, Daphna had the unique opportunity to work at ABC News’ Jerusalem bureau, where she collaborated with esteemed journalists such as Diane Sawyer, Ted Koppel, and the late Peter Jennings.
Daphna also moonlighted as the lead role of “Nicky” in the award-winning English language program “English Time” for Time Warner Hong Kong.
Daphna’s diverse background and experiences have undoubtedly shaped her into the multifaceted individual she is today.
After high school, she moved from Los Angeles to Israel, where she worked on a kibbutz and served as a “lone soldier” in the Israel Defense Forces.
Daphna later earned a BA in Middle Eastern Studies from the prestigious UC Berkeley.
Now, as Matt Gutman’s wife, Daphna continues to use her talents and passions to make a positive impact.
Together, the couple has two children, Libby and Ben, and they share a deep commitment to their family and faith.
