Brisbane Broncos star Herbie Farnworth reveals why he joined the Dolphins

“But obviously, I’m not looking past this week either. I’m keen to go to the Dolphins, but I’m loving my time at the Broncos.

“I love this club, and hopefully, we can leave on a special win in the grand final.”

Farnworth has established himself as one of rugby league’s leading centres this year, sitting sixth overall for post-contact metres, and second among backs (57.58 metres a game).

Those efforts from the backfield has had a flow-on effect to the rest of the team, laying a strong foundation for the forward pack to march down field before the kicking game of halfback Adam Reynolds takes over.

The 23-year-old’s 13 tries and 13 line breaks, to go with 164 running metres and five tackle busts a game, have given the Broncos weapons on either side of the field to exploit.

But the man himself said he had not tweaked too much about his preparation to achieve these numbers.

Ahead of Saturday’s Preliminary Final against the Warriors, a side who have built their resurgence on tough and uncompromising defence, Farnworth said he and his teammates were planning for the unexpected against the likes of New Zealand maestro Shaun Johnson.

“Nothing too different from past years (has changed for me), just I’m obviously getting a bit older now and a little bit stronger, filling out a bit more,” Farnworth said.

“It helps when you’ve got a really strong pack to take all the hard yards, then I come in the back and take all the quality good carries.

“Obviously we’re coming in with a game plan but footy is a real fast game so sometimes that’ll go out the window.

“I’m super keen, it could be my last game but hopefully not.”
