Innocent laid to rest with full state honours | Malayalam Movie News

The who’s who of cinema and politics took part in the funeral procession. Filmmakers Sathyan Anthikad, Kamal, actors Dileep, Lal, and Tovino Thomas were present at the funeral. Fans of the actor flocked to the venue to catch a glimpse of their beloved actor, who has been putting a smile on their faces for the past five decades. Innocent’s family including his wife Alice, their son bid final adieu.
Innocent breathed his last on Sunday (Mar 26) 10:30 pm at a private hospital in Kochi. Actors Mammootty, Dileep, Sidhique, and Baburaj among others rushed to the hospital upon hearing the unfortunate news. Mohanlal, who was in Jaisalmer filming for Lijo Jose Pellissery’s ‘Malaikottai Valiban’ arrived in Kochi by a chartered flight to pay his last respects to his dear colleague and friend Innocent.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi too expressed condolences on Innocent’s demise. In a tweet, the PM said, “Pained by the passing away of noted actor and former MP Shri Innocent Vareed Thekkethala. He will be remembered for enthralling audiences and filling people’s lives with humour. Condolences to his family and admirers. May his soul rest in peace.”
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan shared that Innocent’s demise is a huge loss for Kerala. “The passing of actor, parliamentarian, and fellow comrade Innocent leaves us deeply saddened. His effortless onscreen performances and strong political interventions have made him an indelible part of our cultural memory. In mourning with family, friends, and fellow film lovers,” the CM tweeted.
