Norwegian track sensation Karsten Warholm has been making headlines with his record-breaking performances, but fans are equally curious about his personal life – particularly, the woman behind the champion.
Is Karsten Warholm Married?
Contrary to speculation about Karsten Warholm’s wife, the Norwegian track star is not married.
However, the 28-year-old Olympic champion has been in a committed relationship with his girlfriend, Oda Djupvik, since late 2015.
Their enduring partnership has been a constant source of support throughout Warholm’s impressive athletic career.
Oda Djupvik Is A Research Analyst
Oda Djupvik, 27, is more than just the partner of a world-class athlete.
She’s an accomplished professional in her own right, having graduated from BI Norwegian Business School with a Master of Science in Finance.
Currently, Djupvik works as an equity research analyst at Pareto Securities, showcasing her expertise in the financial sector.
Perhaps most impressively, she is a cancer survivor, having been diagnosed with lymph node cancer at the young age of 18.
Despite Karsten’s high profile, the couple has managed to keep their relationship relatively private.
Nonetheless, they opened up about a challenging period in their lives during a 2020 documentary.
“It was tough, but luckily my body handled it very well, so I could live quite normally,” Djupvik said, referring to her cancer treatment.
The timing of her diagnosis coincided with Warholm’s preparation for the 2017 London World Championships.
Demonstrating his commitment, the athlete immediately returned home to Ulsteinvik upon hearing the news, putting his personal life ahead of his professional commitments during this crucial time.
A Track Legend
While his personal life remains low-key, Warholm’s professional achievements are anything but.
He is the 2020 Tokyo Olympic champion in 400m hurdles, a three-time world champion, and the current world record holder with an astonishing time of 45.94 seconds.
His journey to the top began as a versatile athlete, excelling in multiple events as a teenager.
He eventually focused on the 400m hurdles, where he has since dominated the sport, leaving an indelible mark on track and field history.
As Warholm prepared to defend his Olympic title in Paris, he faced tough competition from rivals like Rai Benjamin and Alison dos Santos.
The Norwegian star remained focused on gold, showing his determination:
“I want the gold. And if I’m not going to fight for the gold, I don’t want to fight. Sometimes when you fight for the gold, you will get silver or bronze, but it’s always going to be important for me to fight for the win. I don’t want to go for silver.”
Nonetheless, the athlete came second, winning silver and losing the gold to Rai Benjamin.
