Limited Releases, New Collaborations, Ahead Of National Tequila Day


Unlike many trends in the spirits space that tend to ebb and flow, tequila continues to own its moment. According to the 2022 Brand Champions report just released by The Spirits Business, tequila’s popularity increased 11.7 percent from 2020 to 2021 and is recognized as “the next spirits category to win over consumers on the world stage.”

Ahead of National Tequila Day this weekend, Sunday, July 24, brands have been giving tequila fans even more reason to partake in celebrating the agave spirit. From new products to new brands, new collaborations and limited edition releases, here are eight exciting updates surrounding tequila.

New Brand – Uni Tequila

Last month, Uni Tequila launched in Palm Beach, under the direction of CEO Metta Risdal, and they are taking their activations national for the rest of the summer, including plans to take over the Hamptons on August 20 and Newport on September 17. Though the brand is new, it’s been more than a decade in the making as Risdal traveled to Mexico for the past 15 years to seek out the best-tasting tequilas as inspiration to start her own line. Uni is an organic rested blanco tequila that’s aged just under two months in oak barrels, permitting for a smooth taste that lends to sipping the tequila neat. Aside from its clean flavor, the bright blue, nine-diamond checkerboard pattern on Uni’s crystal clear decanter stands out on shore shelves and bar carts, as a tequila not to miss.

New Product – Dos Equis RTD Margarita

Marking the brand’s first entry into the spirits category, Dos Equis released their ready-to-drink (RTD) Dos Equis® Margarita Classic Lime earlier this month. Produced in Mexico with blanco tequila and real lime juice, the new Dos Equis Margarita clocks in at 10 percent ABV and is available in a 12 ounce pack of four.

Limited Edition Release – Clase Azul 25 Years

In celebration of Clase Azul’s quarter century, this month the brand released Clase Azul Tequila 25 Aniversario Limited Edition. The special reposado is produced using a traditional stone tahona mill, recognizing the practice and origins of tequila in Mexican culture. The tequila is also aged in two different first-use American whiskey casks for a combined eight months, which imparts woody and earthy notes with rich flavors of caramel and a spicy cinnamon finish. The limited edition reposado is presented in its own unique decanter to commemorate the milestone, branded with Clase Azul’s new logo. There were only 9,125 decanters produced worldwide, one for each day since the birth of the brand.

New Product – Flying Embers

Flying Embers, the beloved hard kombucha brand, has expanded their portfolio with their new line of RTD, sparkling canned cocktails available in margarita and mojito-style drinks. The brand released the two new variety packs earlier this month, which includes The Sparkling Margarita Variety pack and The Sparkling Mojito Variety pack. Both collections are 100-percent plant-based, organic cocktails which Flying Embers says “will keep your buzz without the hangover.” The Margarita pack includes three flavors: classic lime, blood orange pomegranate and strawberry guava, which are all produced with real lime juice and agave nectar, and aged in tequila barrels.

New Acquisition – Rancho La Gloria & Ranch Water

At the end of June, Rancho La Gloria announced the addition and rebranding of Ranch Water to its portfolio of RTD alcoholic beverages. Expect the same blue-agave based hard seltzer flavor that Ranch Water became famous for, but at 5 percent ABV, 100 calories and all new packaging. There will also be two seasonal flavors released to complement the year-round core flavors of grapefruit, lime, tangerine and watermelon—starting with summer releases of pickle back and spicy mango, which are available through August 2022.

New Collaboration – PATRÓN Tequila & LALIQUE

Last week, PATRÓN Tequila and luxury French glassmaker, Lalique, released PATRÓN en LALIQUE: Serie 3, an ultra-luxury, limited-edition tequila presented in a hand-made, individually numbered crystal decanter, of which there are only 299. Led by PATRÓN Master Distiller David Rodriguez, the PATRÓN team created a rare blend of 14 different extra añejo tequilas (each aged up to eight years in French and American oak casks) while Marc Larminaux, Lalique artistic and creative director, designed the decanter specifically for the liquid, interpreting an agave plant. For National Tequila Day, 15 of the 299 bottles will be available exclusively on as an NFT; both physical and virtual bottles are priced at $7,500.

New Product – Volcán X.A

This month, Moët Hennessy’s first premium-tequila brand, Volcán De Mi Tierra, launched its ultra-premium expression X.A. As a blend of aged tequila, reposado, añejo and extra-añejo, it takes 10 years to craft a single bottle of X.A., which the brand hopes will reinvent the art of aging tequila. The bottle is produced in highly limited quantities, and will only be available at select nightclubs and restaurants worldwide, including the likes of Gurney’s in New York; Hakkasan in Vegas; Bagatelle in Miami, Tulum and Bodrum; and La Guérite in Cannes, to name a few.

New Product – PARCH

For anyone partaking in Dry July or the growing sober-curious movement, celebrating National Tequila Day doesn’t have to be boring thanks to PARCH, a new, and first of its kind, non-alcoholic, blue weber agave-based canned cocktail. Crafted with botanicals sourced from the Sonoran Desert and active adaptogens, PARCH is a functional NA beverage available in two RTD flavors – prickly paloma and spiced piñarita.
