Lotus Emeya Launch: Lotus Emeya electric sedan global debut on September 7th: Design, battery, range and other expected details


British Automaker Lotus has announced that it will be revealing its new electric sedan globally on September 7th 2023. The company also revealed that the EV will be called Emeya, it was previously known by its code name of Type 133. The Emeya will be a four-door electric sedan and will be the brand’s third electric vehicle after the Evija and Eletre. The company also has plans to introduce two more electric vehicles by 2026, which include the Type 134 (a D-segment SUV) and Type 135 (a sports car).

Lotus calls the Emeya a “fully electric hyper-GT,” which means this will be a performance-oriented electric car. When launched, the Emeya will rival the Tesla Model S, Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron globally. The Emeya will be based on Lotus’ Electric Premium Architecture (EPA) platform which underpins the Eletre and the upcoming Type 134. It is also expected that the sedan will most likely use an 800-volt electrical architecture that supports ultra-fast DC fast charging.

The teased images reveal a slight glimpse of the Emeya electric. It features a split headlight setup with an angled LED strip and a sleek body line. The EV will adopt various aerodynamic design elements which helps in achieving more range. At the rear, it will feature a connected LED light bar which serves as a taillight. Other expected exterior highlights include a closed-off front grille, raked windscreen, recessed door handles, sloping roofline and active spoiler at the rear.

As mentioned previously, the company will reveal the car and its technical specifications on September 7th. It’s expected that the Emeya will be powered by a 112 kWh battery pack paired with dual electric motors which puts out more than 900 hp of power and close to 1000 Nm of torque.
