This is the case with Baylor Cupp and Cooper Kupp, two players whose careers have sparked curiosity among fans.

No, Baylor Cupp is not related to Cooper Kupp. Although the athletes share the same surname (almost), they don’t have any connections.

Nonetheless, they both have a separate set of legacies and heritage, which they are proud of.

Cooper Kupp Has A Long History In Football

Cooper Kupp, the Los Angeles Rams’ star wide receiver, hails from a family deeply rooted in NFL history.

Born in Yakima, Washington, Cooper is part of one of only five families in NFL history to have three generations drafted into the league.

His father, Craig Kupp, was a fifth-round draft pick by the New York Giants in 1990. Craig’s NFL journey included stints with the Phoenix Cardinals and the Dallas Cowboys.

Cooper’s grandfather, Jake Kupp, left an even more significant mark.

An offensive lineman drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 1964, Jake played for over a decade, captaining the New Orleans Saints five times and earning a place in their Hall of Fame.

But the Kupp football legacy doesn’t end there. Cooper’s younger brother, Ketner Kupp, followed in the family footsteps.

After playing alongside Cooper at Eastern Washington University, Ketner briefly joined the Los Angeles Rams as a free agent in 2019.

While his NFL career was short-lived, Ketner has since transitioned into coaching, currently serving as the defensive coordinator at Pacific Lutheran University.

Baylor Cupp: Forging His Own Path

In contrast to the Kupp dynasty, Baylor Cupp’s football journey is just beginning.

Entering his rookie season with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2024 as an undrafted free agent, Cupp comes from a different family background.

Baylor is the son of Tim and Shyvell Cupp and has five siblings.

While not part of a multi-generational NFL family like the Kupps, Baylor does have some football in his genes. His father, Tim, played for one season at Louisiana Tech.
