We all knew the Senator had stories to tell, but man, we weren’t ready for this level of insight!
A Surprising White House Encounter
During the interview, Senator Lee recounted a peculiar incident involving his wife, Sharon, at a White House event in early 2022.
The story painted an unexpected picture of President Biden’s behavior:
“My wife, I think this was in maybe the first half or the first quarter of 2022, went over to an event at the White House for Senate spouses hosted by the first lady, who was herself a,
you know, a longtime member of the Senate Spouses organization,” Lee explained.
The encounter took an amusing turn when the President, seemingly disoriented, asked Sharon if she worked in the East Wing.
Sharon’s graceful response, “No, no, Mr. President, I’m Sharon, Sharon Lee, Senator Mike Lee’s wife,” showcased her poise in an unexpected situation.
In the same interview, Mr. Lee also praised his wife, stating that she is a “cool woman” and “amazing; I don’t know how I convinced her to marry.”
Meet Dr. Sharon Lee: More Than a Political Spouse
Mrs. Lee is indeed an amazing woman. Her accomplishments extend far beyond her role as a senator’s wife.
A respected doctor specializing in family medicine, she graduated from New York Medical College in 1989 and previously practiced at the Intermountain Medical Group in Murray, Utah.
Her involvement in politics goes beyond supporting her husband.
In 2016, Sharon served on the Republican National Convention’s Rules Committee, demonstrating her own political acumen.
The Lees’ relationship began in their Provo, Utah, high school, where both worked on the student newspaper.
Their connection deepened at Brigham Young University, leading to marriage in 1993 while still in college.
Together, Mike and Sharon have raised three children: twins John and James, and daughter Eliza Rose.
While the couple largely agrees on political matters, Sharon notes they engage in “robust conversations,” especially regarding their children.
