Tata: Tata Nexon beats Brezza, Creta, Venue: Becomes India’s top-selling SUV in Sep ’23
Tata Motors sold a total of 15,325 units last month and it was closely followed by the Maruti Suzuki Brezza at 15,001 units securing second place. The Tata Punch secured third place on the list with 13,045 units. Hyundai Motor India sold a total of 12,717 units of Creta and 12,204 units of Venue. Mahindra Auto sold a total of 11,846 units of Mahindra Scorpio-N and Classic.
A few more Maruti Suzuki models on the list are the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara at 11,376 units and Fronx at 11,455 units. Sales of the newly launched Kia Seltos stood at 10,558 units and the Mahindra Bolero was the 10th highest-selling SUV in September at 9,519 units.
So what are the factors that made the new Tata Nexon the highest-selling SUV? The new Tata Nexon facelift features a futuristic design language and the Nexon is one of the most feature-loaded SUVs in the segment, taking on the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.

On the feature front, the Tata Nexon gets a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen, a fully digital instrument cluster with a navigation display, a 360-degree camera, connected car tech, a wireless charger, ventilated front seats, an air purifier, a voice-assisted sunroof, touch-based HVAC controls, LED headlights with sequential LED DRLs and indicators and much more. In terms of safety features, it gets six airbags as standard across the range, ESC, three-point seat belts for all passengers, ISOFIX as well as emergency and breakdown call assist.
The Nexon is also offered with multiple powertrain options – a 1.2-litre turbo petrol and, a 1.5-litre turbo diesel and it also gets an all-electric variant dubbed Nexon.ev. Gearbox options for the ICE variants include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT, 5-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic with paddle shifters.
The Nexon.ev gets two variants – MR and LR. The MR gets a 30kWh battery pack with a 325 Km range (claimed). The LR gets a larger 40.5kWh battery with 465 Km (claimed) in one full charge. The MR puts out 129hp of power and 215Nm of torque whereas the LR produces 145hp and 215Nm.
